The ChromeBook Pixel is an amazing device. I have found myself going to the Google Play Store many times looking at the device, even placing it in my cart once or twice and pausing at the checkout screen going \”Is it worth $1499?\” (LTE model) Its an extremely powerful device (for the people who like specs) but i always think to myself \”I have the Acer Chromebook and it works completely fine with no performance issues to date, so why do i need this powerhouse of a machine?\”
From the consumer standpoint there is no purpose for this device, especially since our current use for the cloud is quite limited. The current situation just doesn’t yet warrant the large amount of processing power offered by the pixel. I would say that this is for developers to first develop something that would need this kind of power in the future for \”What Comes Next\” as Google says, but even with my analytical mind, i’m not seeing what type of apps would be needed to harvest this kind of power quite yet.
I have been considering doing YouTube Live Shows when my streaming events gets enabled, and now with the Youtube Live Streaming API enabled maybe i can use the Pixel and the API to create something interesting. But thats just my mind ticking.
