I know i’m going to get heat for this perspective and that’s ok because I’m all about the truth and facts. That’s the only way we can get past this, no matter who is right or wrong.
Today, after hearing this radio broadcast on YouTube today (http://youtu.be/WzBdY6WXeRE) and then going back and then looking at some of the raw footage from the day of the incident, I zeroed into someone who is in the background speaking on what they witnessed while watching this clip. Again, this clip is filmed on the day of the incident, and the storyteller is standing on the sidelines telling other neighbors, who didn’t witness it, what happened at starting at 6:17 in the video. What I find interesting is that this random guy, who gains nothing from lying cause he is just telling the neighbors his perspective immediately after it happened, is telling a story almost exactly lines up with the clip from the radio.
Storyteller: When i came back outside, all i seen is, the police was in that truck right there, and dude’s…. i don’t know … what happen (interrupted)
Neighbor 1: Who’s hat is that right there?
StoryTeller: That’s his hat. I don’t know what happened (interrupted)
Neighbor 1: How he get from there, to here?
StoryTeller: Because he Ran. Police was still in the truck. (Interrupted)
Neighbor 1: They came this way?
StoryTeller: Naw. He was right there, the police was still in the truck, like i don’t know (Interrupted)
Neighbor 1: he was running this way, Why his body come this way? (interrupted)
Neighbor 2: him and the police?
Storyteller: (inaudiable due to the interruptions by neighbor 1) He was like over the truck now, and he ran, and the police got out and ran after him. The Next thing the next thing i know he is coming back towards the police. the police had his gun drawn already..
Neighbor 2: AWE THE POLICE SHOT THE GUN!?
Storyteller: Yea the police shot him. the police kept dumping at him. and i’m thinking that the police missing! Like, he’s like (inaudible) police like, (inaudible) dumping him. at least, at least 5 shots dawg. Next thing i know, i’m thinking his is missing..
Neighbor 3: I didn’t know the police shot him….
If this, and the police officers story lines up, then we have a problem. All the protesting that was going on is useless because the police did in fact act in self defense. But for me, new questions arise. Why did the Officer #DarrenWilson fire so many times? Should he had of fired that many times? Maybe he was scared and felt it was his life or #MichaelBrown. Maybe a taser could of made this situation a little easier? I’m not sure what the right answer is. Badges and authority aside, as a person, if I was being bum rushed by another person who appeared to be intending to beat the life out of me, and I had a gun already aimed at him and he was double my size almost, in the heat of the moment, would I shoot him 1 time or 20 times?
Lastly, I think some good did come out of all this. I think police reform needs to happen with the way excessive force is punished. I’m glad we are finally getting +The White House to look at this issue. If I had to make the ability to make a recommendation to +Barack Obama on this, I would say excessive force needs to be punished just as if you were a citizen. Example, Since it’s not the Police Department’s Policy to do Rodney King style beatings, when it happens, the police officer(s) involved should be charged just as if I, (a non police officer) did the beating. They shouldn’t get lighter sentences because they are “officers of the law”. I believe that the way the system currently works causes riots and protests to arise every time something happens because people immediately assume \”the officers are going to get off.\” I’ll save \”The Militarization of The Police\” conversation for another post at another time.
I welcome the battle and the war that’s coming my way for this post. And will attempt to respond to everyone that leaves a comment, good or bad. \n\n
